STRONG BOLD BRAND

This is a project for F&G Annuities in Des Moines, Iowa. It is in construction right now, getting updates every day! My partner on this was SHYFT COLLECTIVE – one of my favorite partners yet!

This is a client with a strong brand and a deep understanding of what that means to them. The brand feels young, bold and is very clear on what they are trying to achieve.

When designing this space, the F&G client was interested in keeping the interior architecture modern, clean and warm — so my partner
SHYFT COLLECTIVE, built a space that was the perfect backdrop for a bright brand expression.

When experiencing this space, visitors come to the 26th floor and are welcomed with the logo mark and mission statement. Each floor has been color coded to align to one of the brand colors, therefore, signage and wayfinding correspond.

Because we have such a clean palette, we were able to bring the true brand essence and colors to life.

On each floor there is a corner pocket for collaboration and interaction where we have designed a custom graphic mural that brings the graphic elements of the brand as well as the signature ”&” to life in a mural. This mural is going to be hand painted by an artist (Matt Grote, out of Cincinnati) and the color palette corresponds with the floor color.

All in all, this space is built for a youthful, energetic brand — this space will have a long life with this client because of their smart choices for the interiors.

Innovation Girls Workshop

The Innovation Girls program is one of the coolest and innovative new programs I’ve seen out there. They work with girls, empowering them, teaching them design thinking skills to solve real world problems. This is something I want my girls to learn! This is the future of business and innovation overall.

Because this group is so special, and because you can’t create a brand for an organization like this in a traditional way, they engaged with coalesive and Colibri to create a workshop setting for the girls in the program – to learn who they are, and who they want to be as a group.

Brand Personality Exercise

We took a look at brand character, using animal playing cards, exploring the personality of each animal and creating something to looked like them.

Brand Look and Feel Exercise

We also explored different brands that exist today – what appeals to the 12-17 year olds? That next generation? Why? We used many brands that target them and their parents.

Brand Analysis Exercise

As part of learning about brands, we had the groups dig into some very specific brands that they encounter all the time here in Cincinnati. They did an analysis of these brands, explored what appealed to them, or didn’t.

Brand Vision Board Exercise

The girls were then able to create their own vision boards for the Innovation Girls brand. By creating boards out of magazines, hand drawings and color samples, they had the opportunity to express their vision for the brand.

Palette Exercise

As a final step, the girls envisioned, in several small groups, the look and feel for their space. The Innovation Girls headquarters is a blank canvas, and the girls were inspired to create!
